Shark Bay kitesurfing, Nicholson point, Kite Lessons & Hire Gears And Downwinders

My friend Mark has been keen to try kite surfing for several years. He has wanted to learn all that time.However, being deaf it all seemed too hard, and often the initial classes are in groups of two or more, which would not work.We were holidaying together on the west coast when we became aware of Shark Bay Kitesurfing and decided to approach them to see what they thought.Well Damien (Damo) is certainly one up for a challenge. He had to modify certain aspects of his usual training (helmets with speakers were just not going to work) but it was full steam ahead. The guy is just a total legend.Mark has had three days of one-to-one training. He is confident in controlling the kite and in safety (body-dragging etc) so now on to the next step. Damo gave some referrals for that to happen, as we continue our journey south.To describe Damo as a fun, professional, experienced, confidence-building life-changer begins to paint the picture.If you are half-interested in kite-surfing, it seems to me, there is no better place to start and no better person to start with!Have Fun!John

I've done a few lessons else where but still wasn't feeling confident kitesurfing on my own so I booked an extra lesson with Damien from Shark Bay Kitesurfing. He's an awesome instructor, by the end of the lesson I was much more confident controlling the kite, getting up on the board and even starting to ride up wind! I would highly recommend Shark Bay Kitesurfing to anyone who wants to learn to kitesurf.

Definitely the best place to learn Kitesurfing! The water is clear, warm, you are always on your feet, you can see sublime marine animals and Damo passes on his knowledge with unfailing patience, calm and pedagogy !We quickly became independent thanks to him. He also directed us to other spots and other instructors in Australia for when we continue our trip, but also booked some surprises and gave good advice outside of kitesurfing !If you are French-speaking this is the perfect place for you 'cause he speaks your language, but the lessons can obviously be done in English and it seems to me in other languages, ask him to know it ! I had a 3hr lesson with Damo yesterday. Conditions were excellent and the water was beautiful. Damo had all the patience in the world for a novice like myself. In the end I finally put all the piece's together and I was up kite surfing. I can't thank Damo enough.Stephen W

If you are visiting Western Australia for a kiteboarding trip, take the extra time and head up to Shark Bay. The wind is strong and the water is shallow and flat. Book the downwinder to Big Lagoon and enjoy one of the best kiteboarding experiences.

Damien is a very experienced kitesurfing teacher. He is professional, patient and calm. The lessons are done in a good mood. I always felt safe. I was a little stressed at the idea of ​​starting kitesurfing but Damien was able to give me confidence.The spot is perfect for learning kitesurfing because the water is shallow.I recommend to anyone who wants to start this sport. Best holidays ever! I was there for the camp with my son. We learned more than ever before. The conditions are ourstanding: warm clear water, wind and Unesco heritage scenery. Above all surprise luxury accommodation and so yummy food. Thank you Damien and Ben!

Shark bay is definitely the best place in wa Australia to kite surf.there are so many beautiful spots !Demo runs the local kite school. He knows so much about kitesurfing and the spots around Shark bay. Definitely give him a call when you are in shark bay. We bought some harness from him Wich where an excellent price and Very good quality ! Thanks again for those ! Definitely try a kite safari Which bring you to the most amazing kite spots.

Damo is an absolute legend! I came up here with the family, packed my kite gear and then day one while pumping up the kite, the bladder popped, I was devo! Googled Damo and left him a message, he replied promptly and asked for a photo as he was going to see if he could repair it, champion! Unfortunately bladder was cooked so I asked if he could rent me a kite, he did so with no hesitation, knew all the spots and introduced me to his ‘home’ spot at Nicholson Point. Epic Kiting territory, shallow water for miles and fresh breeze off the point, didn’t see any wildlife but quite common here at the right time of year! The whole Shark Bay Kiting community were very welcoming, all happy to have a yarn and share their spots - can’t recommend Damo enough and the environment is a special place to kite!
